Have you ever done a double take when a man in a well-tailored suit passes you by? Get those hands up because I know I’m not the only one. Nothing screams “I have my life together” AND “I’m sexy” more than a well-dressed man. A suit on a man shows that he takes pride in his appearance, that he is confident, and that success is his only option.

I can’t tell you how many times I have drooled over the men from the USA network drama, “Suits.” (Harvey…Mike, call me!) This seemingly simple wardrobe choice sparks a primal response within most females. I begin to fantasize about what is going on underneath that slim-cut, pin-striped suit. But it’s not just me and my naughty thoughts. According to a 2011 survey conducted by Men’s Warehouse, 91 percent of Americans think that dressing sharply “can help a man look more attractive than he really is.”

Mary Salinas, a recent business undergraduate from the University of Arkansas, agrees. “They do look more attractive, for sure! But it’s the confidence men feel in the suit that I find attractive, not the actual [clothing].”

Women also find men in suits sexy as it personifies security and status. “I think it shows monetary status and that he is able to provide,” says Nicole Corwin, a 23-year-old with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. “Subconsciously we want these guys more because looking put together reflects to us that there’s stability there. It’s the difference between a man and a boy. That’s why we’re automatically attracted to them.”

The Men’s Warehouse survey also stated that about “78 percent of women think one of the sexiest things a man can do is dress well.” Leah Horn, a 26 year old from Addison, Texas says that “there’s a sex appeal and also an evolutional appeal. They look so much better in a slim-cut gray suit and tie – a la Christian Grey – but it shows us females that he has potential to be a provider whether we realize it or not.”

So in other words, survival of the fittest…suit? Seem to be the general consensus. Women are attracted to a suited-up man as is a moth to a flame; there is no keeping us away.
